Dancing with the Stars Update

October 24, 2017 - 6:30am

Dancing With The Stars wrapped up the sixth week of Season 25 last night. During the competition this week, the couples were tasked with performing one unlearned dance, capturing the spirit of a specific movie genre. The judges - Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and guest Shania Twain - gave their opinion of the couple's dances and the scores were finalized.

Mark Ballas played the mad scientist last night and lifted Dancing With the Stars to new creative heights. His electrifying Argentine tango with violinist Lindsey Stirling was the best dance of the season so far, judge Bruno Tonioli said. The dance, a salute to sci-fi movies, was a work of genius, Tonioli said. "Phenomenal," Carrie Ann Inaba agreed before the judges handed out the only perfect scores for the night.

After weeks of dance-floor mishaps, Nick Lachey and partner Peta Murgatroyd performed to 1999 Worst Original Song winner "Wild Wild West." The former 98 Degrees singer scored a mere 26 out of 40 score - too far out for fans' votes to rescue him and he was eliminated. The judges praised the "entertainment value" of his samba, but couldn't think of much positive to say about his moves.

Even though he's been eliminated, NIck will linger around the set to cheer on wife Vanessa Lachey, who fared much better. Her quickstep to "Let's Be Bad" from short-lived ABC series Smash earned her a 36/40 - the fourth-highest score of the night - despite a wardrobe malfunction.

Terrell Owens and Cheryl Burke, and Victoria Arlen and Val Chmerkovskiy also found themselves in jeopardy, but it was Nick that got the boot.

"I enjoyed it," Nick said. "I came in not a very good dancer, going to leave not a very good dancer, but I'm proud of the effort I gave."

Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold were almost perfect again. The pair danced a near flawless rumba to Ed Sheeran's "Supermarket Flowers."

Shania Twain wasn't just a guest judge, she performed one of her latest hits as well. Shania took the stage to perform a beautiful rendition of her patriotic song "Soldier," which will be featured in the upcoming Miles Teller movie, Thank You for Your Service. "Soldier" is a song off Shania's latest album, Now, which was released in September.
