Mariah Carey is adding to her Christmas canon with "The Star," a new holiday tune that serves as the title track for an upcoming animated movie.
Carey shared news of "The Star" to her fans via social media, announcing the release on Twitter: "Surprise! My new Christmas song THE STAR is out now!" she posted.
Carey followed up with another tweet featuring a trailer for the movie featuring her song. Pre-order of the entire album is expected to begin on October 27th.
The Star is an animated feature depicting the story of the first Christmas.
Carey’s reveal came a day after Fifth Harmony announced that they’d be contributing the new song "Can You See" to the soundtrack of the film starring the voices of Steven Yeun, Kristin Chenoweth, Zachary Levi, Gina Rodriguez, Tyler Perry, Keegan-Michael Key, Ving Rhames and many more.
