Nearly 10 years after its last episode, MTV's TRL is back with a reboot that aired its first episode last night. Migos and Ed Sheeran performed in the middle of Times Square - a throwback to the crowds of fans that once hoarded outside of TRL's Times Square studio.
Migos performed "Too Hotty" off of their upcoming mixtape Control the Streets Vol. 1, coming in November.
Sheeran performed "Perfect" and "Castle on the Hill" to the screams of dozens of fans. But the real star was DJ Khaled's son Asahd who helped his father raise the Times Square Ball in honor of the reboot.
The TRL revival began with a somber and poignant PSA on gun violence in the wake of the largest mass shooting in American history at the Route 91 Harvest Festival Sunday night.
"For us, it hits especially hard because it took place at a concert packed with people of all ages coming together to share a common bond - the love of music," said host DC Young Fly. "We're going to keep going, and lift each other up."
The hosts urged viewers to visit everytown.org/act for more information on how to help prevent gun violence and promote gun safety.
Also during the broadcast, a message in white text on a red background told viewers to "TAKE ACTION" and noted that "We all have the power to prevent gun violence."
