Dunkirk Wins Box Office Battle

July 31, 2017 - 6:30am

After a head-to-head battle with Sony Animation's The Emoji Movie, Warner Bros.' Dunkirk emerged the victor at the box office. The Christopher Nolan WWII epic grabbed $28.1 million, $6.2 million of which came from Imax viewings.

The Emoji Movie brought in $25.65 million, not a bad haul considering the poor reviews the movie received. In addition, the pic had a B CinemaScore, very low for an animated movie, which usually receive an A or A- no, matter how cheesy.

  • Atomic Blonde, starring Charlize Theron, raked in a respectable $18.6 million in its opening weekend.
