Join the Kamloops Community Band and our special guests, the Kamloops School District Honour Band and Honour Choir, for an evening of entertainment and wonderful music as we Play Like The Dickens! Thursday, March 15, 7:00 pm in the Southwest Community Baptist Church, 700 Hugh Allen Drive.
This is a benefit concert for the Richard Dickens Music Scholarship fund. The band was founded by Dickens – a long-time Kamloops school music teacher – in 2001 to provide a place for young people, teachers, retirees and other community members to play their instruments. Dickens passed away in 2009 and proceeds from this event will go toward the scholarship named for him, which provides $2,000 a year for four years to a student who has shown exemplary aptitude and achievement in music and is continuing in full-time music studies at the post-secondary level.
Please join us as we raise funds for this wonderful scholarship. Highlights of the concert include classic British wind band favourites, and music from films such as The Incredibles and Harry Potter.
Tickets are $15 and are available from band members, via online ticket sales, or at the door.
