KAMLOOPS — In its second year in Kamloops, the Strength in Being a Boy conference aimed to teach young boys coping skills, problem solving, and self-reflection.

Boys aged 10-12 signed up to participate in a variety of workshops throughout the day.

Whether running, jumping, and rolling, or constructing items out of recycled materials, the activities served to teach valuable life lessons. And, it’s proven to be an enjoyable event.

“Every year we have the Power of Being a Girl, for the past 13 years.” said event coordinator Devesh Shah. “So, we thought of doing something for boys and came up with Strength in Being a Boy. This is the second year. Last year we had 63 boys, and this year we have 83 boys, so it was kind of like a good job we did.”

The event is for boys, and organized by boys.

A planning committee was created to let participants come up with ideas for the event.

By working together the boys learned cooperation and leadership skills.
