Heavy rainfall prompts sports field closures

KAMLOOPS — Soggy weather has led to the closure of all sports fields in Kamloops.

Parks and Civic Facilities Manager Jeff Putnam says parks staff made the call today.

“The closure is necessary to ensure public safety and to protect the turf from damage.”

He says staff will inspect the fields Tuesday morning and will provide an update before noon Tuesday as to whether the closures will remain in effect.

Putnam says the artificial sports field at Hillside Stadium will remain open.
