WolfPack win wild game one and Moskalyk sets TRU baseball record as the ‘Pack take two from VIBI
KAMLOOPS – The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack are back in the win column after have a huge day against the Vancouver Island Baseball Institute Mariners. Game one was back and forth but the ‘Pack walked off the Mariners in 10 innings, winning 9-8. TRU took the momentum from game one and used it to take game two, 7-4.
In game one, Tyler Hodder (Fort McMurray, AB) threw 8.1 innings, allowing seven runs (three earned) on 11 hits, two walks and a hit batter. He also had six strikeouts. Bryant Jameus (Kamloops, BC) got the win in relief, throwing 1.2 innings. He gave up one earned run on one hit and had one strikeout.
Liam Rihela (White Rock, BC) was the hero for the ‘Pack in game one as he had the game-winning single in the bottom of the tenth inning. He finished the game 3-5 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored. Vance Fode (Bow Island, AB) went 2-5 and had a huge, two-RBI double in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game at seven at the time. Hitting machine Adam Filmon (Winnipeg, MB) had a big game as well, going 3-4 with a double and an RBI. Josh Snider (Moses Lake, WA) went 2-3 with two doubles and a run scored. Josh Hillis (Calgary, AB) tied the game in the tenth inning with a clutch RBI single. He finished 2-6 with the RBI and two runs scored. Zac Comeault (Pitt Meadows, BC) went 1-4 and scored the game-winning run. Malik James (Toronto, ON) went 2-5 with a run scored.
Pitcher Tyler Moskalyk (Thunder Bay, ON) has been everything and more for the ‘Pack so far this season but he took his game to another level. Moskalyk threw a complete game in getting the victory. He allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks but he set a TRU record for most strikeouts in a game as he struck out 18 Mariner batters.
