KAMLOOPS — Wine lovers will get the opportunity to taste a variety of vino in just a few weeks time.

The 20th annual Kamloops Wine Festival runs from May 5 to May 12, and will offer an array of wine-related activities at restaurants all over the city, with funds raised going directly to the Kamloops Art Gallery. The annual event has raised over $200,000 making it the art gallery’s biggest fundraiser.

“We’ve got something at Romeo’s, the Brownstown, Earls, Atlas Steak & Fish, there’s a fun event at the Kamloops Art Gallery as well where you can literally paint with wine and drink some at the same time too, so there’s some really fun activities going on,” says Judy Basso, Kamloops Art Gallery Fundraiser Event Coordinator.

Over the course of the seven day event, there will be more than 100 wines to sample, from wineries around the world. The festival concludes with the grand wine tasting party at the Coast Kamloops Hotel and Conference Centre.

“We also have all of the wineries all over town involved, they’re donating all of their tasting fees for the week to the Kamloops Art Gallery, so there’s a lot of involvement, we’ve got the restaurants, the wineries, the big Grand Tasting Party at the Coast Hotel on May 12th, so we hope that everyone comes out and enjoys and has a little fun with wine with us,” says Basso.
