Westsyde shed fire human-caused, not necessarily arson

KAMLOOPS — An investigator with Kamloops Fire Rescue says the fire that destroyed a shed and a row of hedges in Westsyde overnight was human-caused, but he can’t be sure it was intentional.

Kevin Cassidy was commenting on a blaze that took place on Wawn Place in the early morning hours of Thursday.

“At this time, the fire’s undetermined for a cause and origin. We know that it is human-caused,” said Cassidy.

“There’s no electrical to the shed, no ignition sources inside of the shed and no lightning strikes recently in that area.”

Cassidy noted the blaze has not been deemed arson as yet, so the investigation will remain with KFR.
