Chilly March can’t cool scorching Kamloops construction sector

KAMLOOPS — A strong month for commercial building pushed the Kamloops construction sector to a big finish in the month of March.

The City of Kamloops says $16.5 million in building permits were taken out last month, a 40 per cent boost over the same month in 2017.

That total was bolstered by $4.4 million in commercial and industrial projects.

The residential building sector remained strong with just over $11 million in permits issued.

After the first quarter of 2018, Kamloops has seen $38.5 million in building activity, a 79 per cent jump from the same period last year.
