KAMLOOPS — Corryn Brown’s rink from Kamloops has moved one step closer to a U SPORTS national curling title, clinching a playoff spot on Monday night despite a 9-4 loss to the University of Regina.

TRU gave up four points in the fourth end to fall behind 5-1, and despite bouncing back to score three in the fifth, the Brown rink couldn’t overcome the deficit. The Wolfpack also gave up a steal of two in the seventh end.

The loss dropped the Brown rink to 4-2 after a win over Wilfrid Laurier on Monday morning. But they are in the top four and in the playoffs. The Wolfpack play Mount Allison, also 4-2, at noon on Tuesday. The game will determine playoff seeding. The top-ranked team, currently Brock University at 5-1, will play the No. 4 team. The second and third seeds match up in the other semi-final, which takes place on Tuesday night.
