KAMLOOPS — The 1974 Kam High Red Devils boys basketball team is going into the Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame next month.

The ’74 Red Devils finished second in the B.C. triple “AAA” championship, losing 53-50 to Oak Bay.

It would be 43 years before another team from the school would play in the final — South Kam in 2017 in a loss to Rick Hansen — and 44 years before winning the schools first senior boys provincial championship — last weeks win by the South Kam Titans over Burnaby’s Byrne Creek.

The 1974 team featured tournament MVP Al Chapple along with all stars Doug Tidball and Mike Ledoux, and future CFL player Kevin Powell.
