Voter turnout in B.C. election last year up only slightly

VICTORIA —  Elections B-C has released its official report on last year’s provincial election, and the data shows a slight increase in voter participation.

     The report says 57.7 per cent of eligible voters cast a ballot, compared with  55.3 per cent in 2013.

     A much higher proportion of voters cast their ballots in advanced polls compared with previous years.

     The age group with the highest per cent of registered voters who cast a ballot was those aged 65 to 74 years, while the lowest turnout was among registered 25- to 34-year-old voters.
