REVELSTOKE — One woman is dead following a single-vehicle crash on the Trans Canada Highway near Revelstoke early this (Monday) morning.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Kurt Grabinksy of the Revelstoke RCMP says at around 3:45 a.m. police learned that a vehicle had gone over the embankment on the highway near Eagle Creek.

“It was determined that a single female driver was the lone occupant of the white 2015 Jeep Patriot, travelling west bound,” he says. “The jeep had gone over the embankment, and was about 25 metres from the roadway. The jeep came to a stop when it struck a tree. Revelstoke Fire Rescue Service provided first aid, however the female succumbed to her injuries.”

Grabinksy says an investigation into the crash is currently underway to help identify the cause of the crash.
