Partially-overturned lumber semi closes Yellowhead north of Barriere

BARRIERE, B.C. —Update: According to Drive BC, the Yellowhead Highway is now open to single lane alternating traffic eight kilometres north of Barriere.

Earlier: A commercial flatbed truck carrying lumber partly overturned on the Yellowhead Highway this morning, blocking both lanes of the road.

The incident took place on Highway 5 about five kilometres north of Barriere.

There is no word on injuries, but witnesses at the scene said the semi missed hitting other traffic by mere meters.

According to Drive BC, the route will likely remain closed throughout the morning.
