VERNON — A 32 year old man from Lethbridge, Alberta is in custody in Vernon, potentially facing numerous charges in connection with a number of crimes in the area.

RCMP say the man was arrested February 22 after a loss prevention officer saw a man matching the description of a suspect in a robbery at Tim Horton’s on 32nd Street two weeks ago.

A man walked into the restaurant just before closing time February 14 and demanded cash while threatening the employees.

He made off with an undetermined amount of money.

RCMP say they’re investigation is now wider in scope, but have not indicated what other cases he may be related to.

Potential charges include theft of motor vehicle, fraud, theft, possession property obtained by crime and break and enter.

“It was the observant nature and quick thinking of the loss prevention officer that lead police to the suspect” says Cst. Kelly Brett. “Our officer’s work closely with loss prevention officers within the community and in this particular case the sharing of information and a photograph paid off as the loss prevention officer was able to make a clear identification”.
