Lower Mainland cleans up from snowfall, but Interior roads still face more

KAMLOOPS —    Clean up continues around the Lower Mainland after a winter storm walloped the region.

The snow began to fly late Thursday night and continued into yesterday morning, leaving slippery streets and slushy sidewalks in its wake.

Environment Canada says the system had dropped up to 33 centimetres in North Vancouver by yesterday afternoon, while Port Moody, Mission and Burnaby each received about 30 centimetres.

The storm also smashed low temperature records in several places including Abbotsford, where thermometers dipped below minus six degrees Celsius on Friday.

Here in the Interior, we’re not out of the woods yet.

There’s a snowfall warning still in effect on the Coquihalla from Hope to Merritt and on Highway 3, the Hope-Princeton.

A good dump came down yesterday and last night, and another 10 centimeters is expected before the snowfall eases.

Around Kamloops, flurries will continue today and tonight, and while main roads are generally in good shape, some intersections are a bit slick.

We’ll get up to 4 degrees today, which will mean sloppy driving conditions as the day wears on.
