PyeongChang — For only the second time in 30 meetings in Olympic and world championship men’s hockey, Germany has defeated Canada.

And this one was especially costly for the Canadians, because it knocked them out of gold medal contention.

The Germans built up a 4-1 lead and then held on to beat Canada 4-3 in the semi finals this morning.

Germany will play Russia for gold while Canada faces the Czech Republic in the bronze medal game.
