KAMLOOPS — Interior Health says the emergency department at Royal Inland Hospital was under restricted access earlier this afternoon.

RIH Health Services Director Sue Gardner-Clark says the situation was related to an RCMP investigation, and took place from 2:20 to 3:15 p.m.

Gardner-Clark calls the situation a precautionary measure meant to ensure the safety of patients and staff.

She says the ER was still open during the restricted access, but enhanced security was put in place.
