KAMLOOPS — Fifteen-year-old Josh Pillar will get his first taste of the Western Hockey League on Wednesday night when the Blazers host the Spokane Chiefs.

The Blazers said there are no injuries forcing them to call up the Saskatchewan native, wanting to give Pillar some WHL experience before the end of the season. He’ll wear No. 12 in his debut.

This season, Pillar has scored 20 goals and added 25 assists in 39 games with the midget AAA Prince Albert Mintos.

Pillar practiced with the Blazers for the first time on Tuesday. He’ll play on Wednesday, then be sent back to his midget AAA team in Saskatchewan.
