Man arrested following hit and run in Williams Lake

KAMLOOPS — A 42 year old man is facing a slew of charges following a hit and run in Williams Lake.

Williams Lake RCMP Cst. Andrew Waters says on Monday night, police were called to a report of a hit and run at the interection of Pinchbeck Street and Seventh Avenue.

“Initial reports indicated that a Ford station wagon had hit a GMC pickup truck rendering the truck inoperable. The Ford station wagon then fled the accident scene.”

Waters says officers were able to locate the Ford station wagon a short time later and arrest the driver who had reversed with the intent of escaping.

Further investigation revealed the station wagon was stolen from a nearby home and that the home had been broken into prior to the vehicle being stolen.

The suspect, who Waters says is from “out of town,” is facing a numbers of charges including break and enter, theft of a motor vehicle, assault with a weapon, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property and fail to stop at the scene of an accident.
