Coquihalla Highway travel advisory lifted

KAMLOOPS — Update: Drive BC has rescinded its travel advisory for the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt. It was issued earlier this morning due to black ice and slippery conditions.

Earlier: Motorists beware: Drive BC has issued a travel advisory for the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Kamloops.

Black ice and extremely slippery conditions are expected Thursday along with snow.

“We could have 10 to 15 centimetres on the highest elevations of the Coquihalla over the next 24 hours,” says Environment Canada Meteorologist Doug Lunquist.

On the bright side, he says temperatures “could approach double digits” in Kamloops today, perhaps as high as 10 degrees.
