KAMLOOPS — The Blazers lost their second game of the weekend, dropping a 4-1 decision to the Tri-City Americans.

Park AuCoin gave the Americans a 1-0 first-period lead, scoring 23 seconds into a power play after the Blazers were penalized for too many men.

Tri-Cities took a 3-0 lead in the second on goals by Tyler Jette and Jordan Topping.

Topping’s goal was on the power play.

Quinn Benjafield got the Blazers on the board late in the second with his 11th of the season and one of the highlight reel plays of the week.

Down by two, Kamloops pulled Dylan Ferguson with two minutes left in the third, but the Americans sealed the deal with an empty net goal for a 4-1 win.

The Blazers outshot Tri-Cities 33-27, but outside of Benjafield’s goal created little in the way of quality scoring chances.

Their next game is Tuesday night when they host the Spokane Chiefs.
