Woman Shot At Vernon Apartment

VERNON, B.C. — RCMP are investigating the shooting of a woman Saturday morning in Vernon.

“Shortly after 1 am, RCMP responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment located on the 3700 block of 24th Avenue (a block south of Lincoln Lanes),” says Cst. Kelly Brett. “The victim, a 49 year old female, inside the apartment sustained life threatening injuries and remains in the hospital at this time.”

Mounties say the investigation is in its early stages, but add preliminary information suggests this was not a random attack.

“Police do not believe that public safety is at risk,” says Brett.

The Vernon General Investigative Section, with help  from the Vernon North Okanagan Forensic Identification Services, is in control of the investigation and there is no further information being released at this time.
