KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP took 24 impaired drivers off the roads during the holiday season.

Sergeant Darren Michels says during the Christmas-New Years period, thousands of vehicles were checked throughout the City.

Michels says during the checks, they issued 9-90 day immediate roadside suspensions, 1-7 day and 6-3 day immediate roadside prohibitions, 6-24 hour suspensions and 2-12 hour suspensions.

Michels says the officers involved in the roadside checks also found one person with a criminal warrant, made 9 drug seizures and seized two firearms.

He says the public was appreciative of the roadside efforts despite delays at times, and says sporadic checks will continue to be made to keep impaired drivers off the road.
