Former Vancouver man dies in plane crash

AUSTRALIA — A former North Vancouver man is identified as the pilot of a seaplane that crashed in Australia New Year’s Eve day, resulting in his death and that of 5 others.

Gareth Morgan was raised in North Vancouver.

The plane he was flying, a De Havilland Beaver, crashed into the Hawksbury River in New South Wales.  It’s not known what caused the crash. 

Morgan was an experienced pilot, with over 10,000 flying time.
