KAMLOOPS — A 20 year old Kamloops man is in police custody following an alleged stabbing attempt Tuesday night.

“Last night around 9:50 p.m. two people were walking in Riverside Park when they were approached by a male,” says Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie. “The male took out a knife and attempted to stab one of them. The suspect was unsuccessful and ran away.”

She says the victims called police and provided a description of the suspect which led police to locate the suspect on the foot path of the Overlanders Bridge.

“It was totally random. They didn’t know him at all and, for some reason, he just chose them and chose to pull out this knife. After we arrested him and searched incidental to arrest, a knife was found on him,” Shelkie said.
