Harper Mountain ski hill opening pushed back

KAMLOOPS — A lack of snow has forced Harper Mountain to push back its ski hill opening.

General Manager Norm Daburger says they originally planned to open the hill this weekend.

However he says they still need one more snowfall in order to have a solid base for boarders.

“On the higher elevation we’re certainly good it’s just a little bit lower down we need a little bit more snow,” said Daburger. “Having to postpone the ski hill, it slows things up a little bit but with the snow in the forecast we’re on track for opening next weekend.”

Environment Canada is forecasting a chance of snow tonight with periods of snow Monday and Tuesday.

Daburger says the hill is scheduled to open this Friday night or Saturday depending on what mother nature brings.

Good news is the mountain’s tube park is now up-and-running, with dozens of families coming out for Saturday’s opening day.
