B.C. race most heated of today’s four federal byelections

SURREY —   Voters in South Surrey-White Rock will head to the polls today in one of four byelections taking place across the country.

The B-C race is the most heated of the contests, with the Liberals trying to take a seat from the Conservatives.

Both Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Conservative leader Andrew Scheer have campaigned in the riding, formerly held by Conservative Dianne Watts, who left to pursue provincial politics.

Watts beat her Liberal opponent in 2015 by less than 15-hundred votes, or about three per cent of the total ballots cast. (The Canadian Press)
