Man convicted in major Vernon drug and gun bust

VERNON, B.C. — Vernon RCMP confirm Taras Becker has been convicted in relation to a number of drug and firearm offences dating back to April 8 of this year.

At that time members of the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP stopped a vehicle to arrest the passenger on outstanding warrants.

Both the passenger and driver attempted to flee from police on foot however were arrested nearby. A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of a loaded .22 semi-automatic pistol.

Investigators then executed a search warrant on a storage locker in relation to the males, where additional firearms, drugs and stolen property was seized.

Taras Becker was convicted on numerous charges which included 23 counts of firearm related charges, four counts of possession of stolen property and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
