Above average temperatures in Kamloops expected to last through the weekend

KAMLOOPS — Kamloopsians can expect to continue to enjoy higher than average temperatures through this weekend and into next week.

Thursday the high reached 14 degrees Celsius, still well off the record this day in 1990 when the temperature reached 17.2.

“We’re expecting highs from five to eight degrees over the next three days. The average is one or two and there’s a chance of double digits on Sunday,” says Meteorologist Doug Lundquist. “When it cools down for early next week, we’re forecasting more in the four or five degree range and that’s still above average.”

Lundquist attributes the warmth to the flow of warm air coming from the vicinity of Hawaii, though he adds things are far less than desirable on the Coquihalla today with a snowfall warning in effect.
