KAMLOOPS — Mounties in Clearwater took down a perceived threat to the community this morning: a cougar.

Sgt. G.D. Simpson says the animal was spotted prowling around the Weyerhaeuser residential subdivision and at one point had come within three metres of a male.

Police also learned the predator had killed a neighbhourhood cat.

“Officers eventually located the cougar several blocks from where it was originally sighted. It then entered a tarped-in porch of a residence under renovation and was shot by police.”
