KAMLOOPS — The lifts start turning this Saturday morning (November 18) at Canada’s Second Largest Ski Area for the 2017-18 winter season!

Sun Peaks is ready for a new season that promises great conditions and hopefully another record attendance on the slopes.

Three mountains will be open tomorrow, represenging  one of the best openings in history at Sun Peaks.

Natural snow has fallen consistently in the past couple of weeks, including 59cm in the past 7 days, and more is promised in the short term forecast.

This, combined with the great snowmaking weather through the early part of November, means that an abundance of terrain and run choice will be available to all for opening day.

Ski bunnies at the Coast can also rejoice- another winter wonderland opens today, a week ahead of schedule.

Officials with Whistler Blackcomb say five lifts will be in operation on Whistler Mountain today, allowing visitors access to 20 runs over 600 acres of terrain.

They say more than 194 centimetres of snow has fallen in the area over the past week.

Blackcomb Mountain is set to open next Thursday as scheduled.
