Weather forces cancellation of flights in and out of Kelowna

KELOWNA —     Dozens of flights in and out of Kelowna have been cancelled after a snow storm swept through the region, producing white-out conditions at the city’s airport.

Sean Parker with the Kelowna International Airport says about 20 centimetres of snow fell yesterday and low visibility prompted the cancellation of 22 inbound and 22 outbound flights.

He says thousands of travellers have been affected and some outbound trips have been cancelled this morning because the aircraft couldn’t get into the airport last night.

Environment Canada says flurries are expected in Kelowna this morning, before temperatures rise to a high of four degrees.
