PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — This year, twenty-six black bears were put down in the Prince George region by the Conservation Officer Service. Which is slightly down from last year’s at this time.

According to the C.O. Service, the bears destroyed are directly related to un-natural attractants. They responded to 675 calls regarding bear-human conflicts.

The Conservation Officer Service would like to remind residents it’s their responsibility to secure their garbage. Some bears are still active as the temperature drops and will continue to hunt for those extra calories before hibernating.

Report All Poachers and Polluters (RAPP) hotline should be used to report wildlife-human interactions where public safety may be at risk. You can RAPP at 1-877-952-RAPP (7277).
