KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops RCMP have arrested the man they allege is responsible for firing a gun in an apartment building on Holt Street on Saturday injuring a man in a neighbouring apartment.

An investigation led police to a home in Paul Lake where the suspect was arrested without incident.

"The suspect is from Kamloops and is known to police," said Supt. Brad Mueller. "I can tell you that once again, this incident was associated to low level drug activity. The careless use of that firearm resulted in it being discharged. And that shot went into a neighbouring apartment and struck an innocent victim."

The 24-year-old man who was shot has since been released from hospital.

Police are recommending a string of charges including robbery with a firearm, careless use of a firearm and uttering threats. The suspect's name has not been released.
