KAMLOOPS — A Thompson Rivers University administrator has been recognized for his contributions to accessible education in BC.

Interim Associate Vice President of Open Learning Irwin DeVries has received the Award for Excellence in Open Education by the BC Open Textbook Project.

In a news release, the organization says DeVries has long been a champion of open education in the province, including advocating the adoption of open education resources and open-source software.

“The impact of his leadership and mentorship has been felt well-beyond TRU and we are grateful for the work that he has done as a pioneer in the field,” said the release.
