KAMLOOPS —  For only the second time in Thompson River Universities Canada West history --- which includes basketball, volleyball and soccer --- a WolfPack athlete has been named the Canada West player of the year.

It goes to soccer midfielder Mitch Popadynetz.

Popadynetz was the offensive leader for the WolfPack this season with seven goals and ten assists.

His 17 points tied for the league lead in scoring, and his assists (10) led the conference.

Popadynetz becomes the second WolfPack athlete ever to be named a Canada West athlete of the year, joining volleyball's Iuliia Pakhomenko, who took the same honour in 2016/

Popadynetz was also named to the conference first all-star team.
