VERNON, B.C. — A man accused of threatening a prostitute with a gun near Falkland has made a video court appearance in Vernon.

36 year Curtis Sagmoen is charged with seven offences from an incident back in August on Salmon River Road where a sex trade worker had attended a pre-arranged meeting with a man.

The charges include uttering threats, disguising face with intent to commit an offence, pointing a firearm, and possession of a controlled substance.

Sagmoen also has ties to a farm on Salmon River Road — land his family owns — that has been the site of an RCMP search for the last week, and where human remains were found.

Sagmoen will remain in custody, with his next court date Nov. 23.

Local First Nations held a protest against violence against women on the steps of the courthouse after Sagmoen’s appearance.
