Man killed on Highway 97 near West Kelowna

KELOWNA, B.C. — A Kelowna man is dead after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 97.

According to Corporal Jesse O'Donaghey, the 32-year-old man was walking north on the shoulder near West Kelowna just before 5 a.m. Saturday when he stepped into the travelled portion and was struck by a car.

Despite being injured, the man and woman who were travelling in the car performed CPR on the man before emergency crews arrived.

He died later in hospital.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the man walking along the highway prior to the collision are asked to call RCMP.

Police and the BC Coroners Service continue to investigate the crash.
