KAMLOOPS — Traffic was backed up on the Trans Canada Highway near Cherry Creek Thursday morning after a single vehicle crash.

At about 9:10 a.m., a pickup truck careened off the highway and into a nearby ditch.

First responders were on scene quickly, and extracted the driver from the pickup truck.

Lt. Ryan Cail of Kamloops Fire Rescue says the 17 year old driver was airlifted to Royal Inland Hospital with injuries he described as "fairly minor."

The response to the crash stopped traffic in the Beaton Road area for about an hour before it reopened.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
