KAMLOOPS — School district officials are calling it a step in the right direction.

In August the board presented a brochure to the Ministry of Education requesting $60 to 70 million additional capital dollars.

The money would go towards expanding classrooms, building a new elementary school in Pineview and a new gym for South Kamloops Secondary.

School Board Chair Meghan Wade says Education Minister Rob Fleming reached out to the district last week to arrange a meeting in Kamloops.
