KAMLOOPS — It was a better effort, but another loss for the Kamloops Blazers — 4-1 against the Victoria Royals.

The Blazers are 0-and-7 — the Royals 6-and-0 — both are franchise records to start the season.

Dylan Ferguson, who has struggled along with the rest of the team this season, was strong early in the game and could’nt be faulted on any of the goals.

Victoria opened the scoring on a breakaway by Igor Martynov..

Chaz Redekopp in his first game back from the Los Angeles Kings, made it 2-0 before the first was over.

Tyler Soy scored on the power play midway through the second period to give the Royals a 3-0 lead.

It was also Soy’s first game after returning from Anaheim’s camp.

The Blazers finally solved Griffen Outhouse when Nick Chyzowski scored his first of the season on a power play late in the second period.

But Victoria would salt this one away when Dante Hannoun scored his league leading 8th goal of the season midway through the third.

The Blazers outshot Victoria 33-22, but could score only one on Griffen Outhouse.

The Seattle Thunderbirds are here on Sunday for a 5pm faceoff.
