KAMLOOPS — Football in December.

It could be a reality in Kamloops if the city gives a green light to a proposed dome over Hillside Stadium.

Capital Projects Manager Darren Crundwell says the City of Kamloops and TRU are moving ahead with a study that will look at the option of installing a dome over the stadium.

Crundwell says the removable, air-supported structure would allow for the field and track to be used during the winter months.

It would cover the entire field and 400 metre outdoor track and allow Hillside Stadium to become home to TRU’s athletics and recreation programs.

"At this point, we're looking to find out how feasible it would be to construct this dome, in terms of budget, design, and the business case for the facility," says Crundwell. "Once we have those details, we can investigate funding sources."

The study is expected to be completed May 2018.

Visits to Kamloops slightly higher than forecast
