WolfPack men’s volleyball win first exhibition of season

WINFIELD, B.C. — The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s volleyball team is ending the month of September on a good note.

The WolfPack won their final exhibition match of the month.  Playing Friday (Sept 30), in Winfield, BC at George Ellliot Secondary, the ‘Pack downed the University of British Columbia Okanagan Heat 3-1.

The scores were 25-21,22-25,25-19,26-24.

The victory raised TRU’s record to 1-3 in the exhibition.

“Randy Grundmann (5th year, outside, Winnipeg, MB) and Charlie Bringloe (3rd year, outside, Waterloo, ON) both passed very well,” said TRU head coach Pat Hennelly. “  Randy wound up qith 15 kills and 10 digs with Tim Dobbert (4th year, outside, Aichelberg, Germany contributing 9 service aces and 12 kills.”

Hennelly added that Jake Hamilton (2nd year, setter, Calgary, AB) did a great job running the offense with 38 assists.

The teams play against on Saturday (Oct 1). They will showdown at 7 pm at the TRU Gym. Its free admission.

TRU opens the 2017-18 Canada West regular season on Friday, October 20th on the Warner Rentals court at the Tournament Capital Centre. They will meet up with the MacEwan University Griffins of Edmonton, Alberta.  Match time is 7:45 pm.
