CHASE — Mounties are asking for the public's assistance in locating the suspects responsible for breaking into mailboxes in Chase.

Cpl. Scott Linklater says on Monday Chase RCMP received a report of mailboxes being broken into on Silvery Beach Road.

"Suspects broke two master locks and gained access to individual mailboxes. It is unknown what contents may have been stolen."

A day earlier, he says police received a report of mischief at the Chase Post Office. Linklater says police arrived on scene to find around 50 mailboxes had been opened and mail found on the floor.

"Individual mailboxes still contained mail but this does not eliminate the possibility some items may have been stolen."

No word on whether or not the incidents are related.

Anyone with information about this cases are asked to call the Chase Detachment at 250-679-3221 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
