KAMLOOPS — Work on the main tie-in for the North Thompson emergency water intake on Westysde Road has been extended another two days.

According to the City of Kamloops, it’s due to “unforeseen circumstances” beneath the road which will extend the tie-in at Yates Road and the corresponding traffic restrictions until the end of day this Friday.

Westsyde residents are reminded to minimize water usage and turn off all irrigation until the end of day Thursday as the city has limited ability to supply water to the Westsyde reservoir during the tie-in.

The city says once water service is restored, the water supply may be discoloured due to disturbed deposits in the pipes. But even if the water is discoloured, the city notes it won’t be harmful as it has been treated.
