KAMLOOPS — For 18 years, the Children’s Arts Festival has been entertaining and informing Kamloops kids. The event, which is put on by the Kamloops Arts Council, gives children the opportunity to understand the arts through experience. Kids get to try a number of different art styles and disciplines while being treated to some high-quality entertainment down at Riverside Park. The 2017 edition of the festival starts this evening and runs all day Saturday.

Friday morning and the tents are just going up at the east end of Riverside Park, all in preparation for the annual Children’s Art Festival, hosted by the Kamloops Arts Council

“The idea… is to give kids the opportunity to try every kind of art form,” Arts Council Office Coordinator Jenn Ruemper explained. “Maybe they have crayons at home or they have paintsed, but how often do you get to play with clay?”

This year marks the 18th edition of the Festival. While weather for last years event was a bit soggy, organizers are making sure they’re prepared – they also brought back one of last years fan favourite performers, as well as some new talent to keep those kiddies having fun.
