KAMLOOPS — An elderly tourist from Australia didn't get a good impression of Kamloops last night.

RCMP Sergeant Darren Michels says they're looking for the public's help in trying to find a suspect who robbed the tourist downtown.

Michels says the woman was walking near the intersection of 3rd and Lansdowne about 7:25 PM Thursday night when she had her purse snatched by a man who quickly ran by and took off.

A passerby attempted to give chase, but couldn't catch up to the suspect.

The purse and contents were found a short distance away, minus the woman's wallet, which is still missing. Fortunately, the tourist was not injured, but she was shaken up in the incident.

Michels says they're looking for a Caucasian male, 5'9"-5'11" tall, slim build, wearing jean shorts, a black t-shirt, and a beige hat on backwards.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
